Pakistan has been affected by one of the worst natural disasters in its
history. Three weeks of torrential rains have wreaked havoc on various parts of
the county leaving an estimated 20 million people homeless and approximately
1,500 dead. The floods have wiped out entire villages, farmlands and
infrastructure.
The needs of the millions who have been displaced cannot be overstated.
Families have been deposited by roadsides without access to drinking water, food
and shelter. The threat of epidemics is constantly looming large with growing
concerns of water-borne diseases, cholera and typhoid. Soaring temperatures have
augmented an already dire situation.
