HBL
money market through a team of qualified and experienced
professionals contributes in managing the liquidity
position of the bank. Amongst other activities,
this involves securing deposits at competitive rates
which makes the balance sheet of the bank resilient
to changes in the market.
The team also ensures optimal utilization of the
funds by lending and borrowing in the inter bank
market depending on future cash flow projections.
Profits are generated by running gaps based on future
market outlook.
To facilitate T-bill and PIB trading in the market,
every year SBP assigns primary dealership based
on preceding year's performance. HBL has the privilege
of being primary dealer for a number of years. HBL
purchases government securities i.e. Treasury Bills
(T-Bills) and Pakistan Investment Bonds (PIBs) for
portfolio management. |
